Sarah's Baptism

I know I haven't posted for a long time here.  I am trying to post more.  I am not going to go back and talk about the Summer as that is one of the reasons while I haven't written so much.  It is sometimes overwhelming with what to add.

However, I wanted to post some pictures of Sarah's Baptism.  She was baptized the week after her 8th birthday.  Both of the grandparents were able to travel and come be part of the Baptism.  Sarah asked her Grandpa Butch to baptize her.  It was a great program and we are glad she choose to get baptized. Here is a picture of Sarah and Grandpa Butch on her Baptism day.

Lilly's Baptism, Sarah's Foot, Nathan's Palm and the house

I need to set aside an evening a week and update the blog.  I have been saying that I will update it on Sunday's but they are always busy with one thing or another.  I have a few things to catch up on, so this might be a long post.

Lilly had her baptism the week after her birthday.  She was able to have both sets of grandparents come visit for it as well as two of her aunts (Tonya and Shannon).  It made for a fun weekend.  It also helped to show how small our current house can be.  My parents and sisters stayed in a local hotel, otherwise we would have been sleeping on top of each other.  The Baptism itself was wonderful.  I was able to baptize Lilly and her grandpa Butch confirmed her.  She had grandma Pheobe and grandpa Rob speak as part of the program.

The day before the baptism was the General Women's meeting.  Grandpa Rob, Grandpa Butch, Sarah, Gus and I decided to go out for dinner during this.  We ended up at Red Robin.  It was fun to be with just my father, father-in-law and two of my kids.

A week after Lilly's Baptism was General Conference.  The kids were good and we enjoyed listening to the words of the prophets.  We decide to grill hamburgers after the final session of Conference.  I have a metal spatula that I was using to pry the frozen patties apart with.  I ended up getting the hamburger patties apart, but I also sliced my palm with the spatula in the process.  It went through the skin and I had to get three stitches in the ER.

The following day Sarah and the other kids were running away from a bee in the front yard, and she ended up with a broken foot.  It has been difficult to make sure that she is not walking on the broken foot and that she is healing fine.  She has a wheelchair at school and we got one for home as well.  But at home it is hard to keep her in it.  She has been crawling around the house when she remembers that she isn't supposed to walk on it.

The last update I wanted to put was that we found this week that our landlord is not renewing the lease that we have.  While we had planned on finding a new place this summer, it accelerated our plans.  We have been looking at a number of houses to buy.  If we don't find one quick, we will have to just rent for a little while.

Sunday - August 26th - Back Home

We are all back home.  Sarah didn't break the fever mark and was able to come home today.  She had a fun time spending Saturday night and Sunday with Grandpa Butch who stayed at the hospital with her. The kids have loved having Grandpa around.

In the middle of Church, Jess came and found me and she said that she was getting a migraine.  I took her home to let her rest and hopefully quell the migraine.  I kept Lilly and Gus at church with me.  When we got home, Jess was still needing more rest, but was a bit better.  We put Gus down for a nap and Lilly and I went to get Grandpa and Sarah from the hospital.  That gave Jess some good time to rest.  Hopefully the migraine doesn't return.

Thanks for all the love and support.  We feel the prayers of those who pray for Sarah and our family.  Here are a couple of videos Grandpa took while playing with Gus.

Friday, August 24th - Back in the hospital

I find myself composing another blog post from the hospital.  Sarah has been fighting a sickness for the past 10 days or so.  She has had low-grade fevers off and on during that time.  She started one about 3am this morning and it stayed for over 8 hours.  We called and got an appointment to get her checked out.  Her ANC is below 200 (actual - 24) so she was admitted in order to give her antibiotics to help her fight whatever it is.  There hasn't been any indication of what it is yet, but she has had a little bit of a running nose and a cough.

My dad flew into town today to come spend some time with us.  It was fun watching my kids play with him.  He brought Sarah and I to the hospital and stayed with us most of the day.  It was nice to be able to have him here to help out.  Jess's brother Jon has also been in town this week.  He came out for dinner on Sunday and is staying tonight at the house.  The kids love to have visitors to play with.

This will probably be the last time for a while that Sarah has to stay in the hospital.  She eneters maintenance on September 5th.   That means that they will try and keep her ANC above 1000.  She will have clinic visits monthly or so.  We are looking forward to it.

We are grateful for all the love and support.  We hope the hospital stay will be short.  Thanks for all the prayers.
